Crafty Kids

Kaeley has been in a crafty phase for several months now. She used to inseparable with her books. Now she can usually been found with crayons, markers, and a coloring book. Nathan is still in a phase of doing whatever Sister does, so he also colors... on anything within reach. I think I probably spend half of my day setting up crafts and cleaning up from crafts. I have to clean the walls of the kitchen every week to make room for the new papers that will be arriving shortly.
The following are papers that the kids did yesterday. The ideas of the hand print art come from a book that Kaeley got for Christmas. The white paper is Nathan's. I think Kaeley said it was supposed to be a king, and that's what he wanted to make. I traced his hand as best I could. Kaeley did everything else. She would ask him if he wanted the different colored pompoms and he'd answer yes. (He also answers yes to "Do you want me to poke you in the eye?) Kaeley usually makes the butterfly pattern. This one I thought was great, because, if you notice, there are googly eyes on the edge of the wings. At first I thought it was a great way to waste expensive googly eyes, but thankfully I didn't say anything, because Kaeley later informed me that the eyes are there to scare away the creatures. She loves learning about butterflies, so she's learned some of the camouflage techniques that the butterflies use. I was very impressed with her creativity. The huge polka dots are for the butterfly to hide in a polka dotted dress or flower.
