Today was the free day at the Natural History Museum. This museum and many others are located in Exposition Park. Parking is always $6.00. One of the other museums in the park is the California Science Center, which is always free. So, I pack up the kids, drive out to the park, miss the parking for the Natural History Museum, and ended up parking in the California Science Museum. So much for free, because I splurged on an impulse and bought Kaeley and myself tickets into the Body Worlds exhibit. This exhibit displays real bodies that were donated to science, plasticized, and dissected to show the different muscles, bones, and organs of the body. Kaeley loves learning about the body, so I went for it.
The kids did very well considering their ages. Yes, Nathan got very noisy during the end of our day, but they had fun running and looking around at the different bodies. Kaeley will say that she liked the bones and muscles the best. She'll also say that she liked watching the video where the white stuff stops the blood from moving. Interpretation? She liked the video that showed bad cholesterol building up in the arteries, which interrupted the blood flow.
I enjoyed seeing the early stages of a baby's life cycle in the womb. I also liked showing Kaeley a dissection of an overweight man, and her loudly stating, "Oh, they ate too much junk food!"
At the very end of the exhibit we even got to see a giraffe on display! Its heart was bigger than my pregnant belly. Now that's big!
Afterwards we walked in the rose garden. Kaeley found a big green leaf that she tried fanning her brother with. She later tried fanning me and ended up slapping me in the face. That was it. I was done with the leaf.
I had to call Brad and proudly tell him what we did today and thank him for working so that I could take the kids to the "free" day at the museums.

I watched a 60mins episode about the body worlds exibit. I have to say that I really do see the educational purposes of it but I don't think I could ever go in and actually see it without passing out.
