Well, here it is 3:00am in the morning and while I'm longing for my comfortable bed and pillows one of our children is wide awake and just not keen on anything besides being upright on my chest. That's right. Alynna is here!
Early Saturday morning I woke up just sure that labor had started. The contractions were strong enough for me not to sleep anymore. I got up, hooked myself up to the iPod, which was loaded with praise and worship songs, and I got busy in the kitchen. I organized the fridge, cleared counters, washed dishes, and made a cake that I needed to have for a family function that day. I figured I might as well make the cake even if it was five in the morning. We could either bring it to the potluck or serve it to our visitors when they came to see the baby. After the cake got started I mopped the kitchen floor.
Then... everything stopped. I took a warm bath and began to relax, but it all stopped. I called Christy for advice. She said to go about my day as planned as long as I didn't over do the errands and walking and so on.
Now one of the coolest things that happened that early morning was a clear answer to prayer. I had been singing along to my music and praying with the contractions. At one point I had asked God to place us on the hearts of our friends and family members, so that we would be covered in prayer. At 8:30am the leader of our Wednesday night Bible study called us. He said he didn't know why, but he just felt like calling us and checking up on us. We were gave him the heads-up and he sent out the word to our other friends to begin the prayers. I was so encouraged by that!
Well, Brad and I picked up the kids who had spent the night at my mom's house and we headed over to his parents house for a family luncheon. We didn't tell anyone I was in the early stage of labor, because I didn't want everyone watching me expectantly. The contractions were irregular and manageable. Whenever I got uncomfortable I would quickly start walking somewhere.
We left their house sometime close to four. I had wanted to go to Target and our local produce market, but Brad wisely said to skip Target. He had had a long day, so he couldn't get excited about Target. Thank goodness for that! We got home around 4:30pm. As I was unpacking bags of produce the contractions came back full force. I never did finish washing and cutting all my delicious fruits and vegetables.
By 5:30 Christy was on her way. She arrived about twenty-five minutes before the baby did. She needed to check the baby's heart beat, so I went from the bathroom, where I had been, and reluctantly laid down on my bed. Before she could find the baby's heart I felt another contraction coming, so I rolled off the bed for a more comfortable position. Comfortable my foot! I landed on my knees between the bed and the wall on Brad's side. He has a three foot area to walk in to get to bed. Guess where I ended up having the baby? I just had no desire to move from my current spot.
Alynna was born at 6:50am in the three foot "cell" is what I like to call it now. Brad, Kaeley, and Nathan watched from the bed. It was quite the experience. Wait until you see the pictures.
After Alynna was born it was at least another half hour before I could really get up and move out off the floor. I was so uncomfortable! It was rather funny though. It's just what happened. I longed for my bed, as I'm doing now, and vowed that I would never walk in this space again!
Alynna is a splitting image of Nathan, but in a very girly way. I'll attach pictures at a more reasonable time. She was 21 1/2 inches long and 8 pounds, 3 ounces. We're still learning how to live with one another... especially at night time... the stinker!
However, she is currently asleep, so that's my cue to try my luck at going back to bed. I'm doubtful this will work, but you never know.
Like I said, I will post pictures sometime this week at least. Thank you for all of your prayers! The Lord was gracious all through out the pregnancy, answer prayer after prayer, and showed Himself mighty during the whole birth experience. He gave Christy wisdom in the moments of seeming panic. He gave me encouragement in those moments when you're sure you're going to die. He watched us, blessed us, and increased our faith. It was truly an awesome experience!

Your 3 foot cell huh? LOL I do have to say, that was one of the most interesting delivery nests I've seen. ;)
And I laughed when I saw you post this already. You took "Monday" literally for the computer, huh? LOL!
