Our dear little Alynna Michelle is two months old. I know she looks sweet, but she can get quite loud. I have never seen a baby get as angry as she does! She can go from somewhat fussy to crying to purple face screaming in a matter of two minutes. She hates car rides! It's not every car ride, but for some reason she'll just get it in her mind to start crying and then she'll scream and screech and holler all the way home! I'm not kidding. She can literally make my ear drums vibrate in pain for a second or two when she reaches a certain decibel.
However, she is, of course, our sweet baby who loves being held and cuddled. I love that! She loves the slings, especially the pouch type, so she gets held in that a lot. She also loves swaddles. Every night she gets swaddled by Daddy, put her in crib with a pacifier, and falls asleep by herself. It just doesn't get any better than that!
She's smiling now, too, and she loves staring at Daddy. Her siblings love her to the point of annoyance and harmful.
Most of this month she's had what I kept calling a heat rash. She would break out in lots of little tiny pink bumps all over her face and neck. I finally took her to the doctor since it wasn't going away. It turned out to be Seborrheic Dermititis. That's a very large title for a baby skin rash that they out grow. I guess it can get really bad and cause pain and spread all over their bodies, but her case was mild. There wasn't much I could do except keep her face clean, use mild soap, and, if it looked like it was causing her irritation, I could use hydrocortizone cream. Well, within a week or so it cleared up tremendously. You know why? Because I called the doctor. We never see the doctor, and the few times that I do the problem clears itself up within a matter of days. That's with no treatment. I think I must be traumatized after scooping Nathan's poop for five days with no answers and it going away by itself. Oh well, I'd rather that happen than wait and wonder and have my imagination run away with itself.
The doctor said that this rash can reoccur in their teenage years. Poor Alynna. We'll hope for the best and start stock piling the acne cream. Brad said that since we were homeschooling she wouldn't have anyone making fun of her. I gave him a sad look and said that was not the case. There will always be someone to remind you of your faults.
Also this month, actually yesterday, I developed the worse case of nursing infection I have ever experienced to date. I woke up that morning and already knew what was happening. I was sore, my whole body felt like I was sunburned, and just general, mild flu symptoms. By 9:30am I could even focus on reading to the children! My mom came and took Kaeley and Nathan so I could rest. It was pretty warm, but I was wearing a sweatshirt, sweatpants, house shoes, and was wrapped in a blanket and my teeth were still chattering! I got up to use the bathroom and get the heating pad. I got the heating pad, but couldn't even plug it into the wall before collapsing on the couch in a dizzy fit. I knew I wouldn't die from a nursing infection, but I kept picturing Steel Magnolias where the young mom is found dead in her house and the child is left alone and is crying. I guess we all know where our girls get their fit of drama from though, huh?
I was able to take a good long nap and felt better after that, but all through the day and night I popped Ibuprofen for the headaches, complained of backaches, and sleepiness. Even in the wee hours of the morning I would wake up in sweats. Never, ever have I had it that bad before!
Fill the above with some eating, sleeping, and pooping and that pretty much is her month in a nutshell.
