Today is my mother's birthday! Hurray! She is now fifty years young! As we spring chickens like to tell her, "It's all down hill from here." Just kidding, Mom.
I love my mother. She has always been a wonderful mother. She stayed home with me for most of my childhood, giving up her dream to become a millionaire with time to spare. She homeschooled me for four years, giving up her dream to have a break from the chatterbox, arguing, young girl going through puberty, and always singing too loud when asked to quiet down. She showed me how to be a good house-wife, stay-at-home mom, and how to manage money. She introduced me to God. She listens to me when I've had a hard day with the children and want to bang a hammer into my forehead. She always laughs at what the children do and then sympathise with how hard it is to raise Godly children. She saves me when I'm sick and can't take care of the children by myself. She's now caught the stomach bug from us three times just because she was trying to help.
Yes, that is my mother... also known as Helper, Hugger, Shoulder-to-Cry-On, Friend, Iron-Clad-Will, and Role-Model.
Happy Birthday, Mom!
