Stars & Stripes & Mess

The idea was so simple. Finger paint feet and finger paint hands and paint the American flag. Thank goodness I managed to put down the plastic tablecloth for protection. Nathan was first. We painted his feet and I slowly helped him walk across his paper. While he was walking he plopped his hand in the blue paint, then started slipping, and tried grabbing onto my shoulder with his blue hand! While Kaeley was painting her flag Nathan enjoyed rubbing the paint between his hands like soap. Then he painted his legs. I even stripped the baby down so she could paint, but she only got mad at me for not letting her eat the blue finger paint. In the end I had several painted rags, paint on the dining table, the wall, and the floor, and I had to carry all three children to the bath, which turned purple. And, yes, I know our flag is backwards. It's the thought that counts. Happy birthday, America!
