It's too bad I didn't bring my camera to the pool today, because I would have gotten some great pictures. We had our friends over to the pool today and the kids had such a great time! The adults all chatted together wonderfully and the kids swam and swam and swam. Kaeley, in her usual fashion, would swim for fifteen minutes and get out to sit in the sun for twenty minutes just watching the other children. Nathan would get out to snuggle for a few minutes and eat and then get back in. I tell you what, last year it was hard work. I was seven-eight months pregnant and Nathan would just start crawling backwards into the pool's deep end! I would have to lug my big round body over to that side as fast as I could to save him from an impending drowning, sit down with him and a toy, and before I knew it he was up and running to the other side again! I always came home with a back ache and hoping to all get out that I would go into labor and get this big-ole' pregnancy out of the way!
This year Miss Alynna Michelle was out in the open. I bought Nathan little arm floaties and a floatie ring. It was so cute, because both of them were Spiderman and his swim suit was Spiderman. We looked a bit like a fan, what can I say? :) He floated happily all over the pool. He insisted on trying the pool without the ring, but couldn't figure out the balance part of the arm floaties. I was sitting right by him, so he wasn't in any danger. I had to grab his arm, pull him toward the side, and yank him out. He hit his head... okay, I pulled him towards the wall and I/he/whatever :)... bummed his head on the wall on the way out. He spluttered for a while and then got back in. He tried again later using only one floatation. I watched from a distance and weighed my options. I decided to let him test the waters, quite literally. It took him a while, but he finally got up to his waste before he decided he needed extra security. Once he figured out how to do all the little pieces by himself he was very pleased with himself. It was so cute to see him happily float about the pool.
Now we're back from nap time and will be leaving yet again for a Bible study potluck with our Church family. It's a busy week for us, but we're enjoying it.
