Well, the kids did their usual play in the water fountain with the water cans and story time and "lecture" about dragonflies. Neither one wanted to do craft that day and they didn't have any featured potting plants. Then we all went on a walk to the creek and the lake to see if the teacher, Mrs. Reid, could find dragonfly nymphs. No such luck. She found lots of miniature fish and a couple of flying dragonflies, but no nymphs. She also was able to find a couple of the skeletons these bugs leave behind when they grow bigger. The kids were happy to see the small fish, turtles, ducks (which Nathan really wanted to catch in his little bug cage and bring home), squirrels, etc.
After that long walk in the heat... well, it wasn't that long, but it was long for little kid legs... Mrs. Reid turned on the sprinkler for about five minutes so the kids could cool down. They loved it!
Good day!
By the way, the kids are both wearing back-packs that I made for them!
