The Skirball Center ~ A New Favorite

On my dad's last day of vacation we went to the Skirball Center. I have been wanting at visit the Noah's Ark exhibit for about a year. Now that I've been I can't say enough about this museum! The Noah's Ark was awesome! Most of the animals were made out of ordinary objects. For example, you can see the alligator above was made using a guitar case, a violin neck, and eye droppers. The eyes were yellow balls and black riding gloves.
The entire place was interactive for all different ages. You could pump or twirl machines to make replicate the storm, build the ark, help the animals get on the ark (which was Kaeley's favorite activity), play with everything from puppets to miniature Noah's arks and kitchen area, you could sweep up fake piles of poop, or climb in the rafters. It was teeming with things to do! Even the adults had lots to do. I just stood there watching the children have a blast and looked at the different animals displayed all around me. It was so much fun! The only down side for me personally is that it's out past Santa Monica and a little past the Getty Center, so there was a lot of traffic coming home.
Oh, this place was great though! Nathan liked the miniature Noah's arks and loved playing in the rafters. Kaeley spent at least twenty minutes setting animals on a conveyor belt and driving them into the ark. She also liked playing in the kitchen. She liked it so much that now I want to buy a little play kitchen for her and her siblings to play with. It's really not a good thing to have all this extra space, because now I have to fill it!
