Our church has a baptism every year at Seaside Lagoon. It's one of my favorite events of the year. It's a huge potluck, luau, swimming, fellowship, etc. The kids couldn't make up their mind about the water. They would swim for about fifteen minutes, dry off, get back in, get cold, dry off, eat dinner, get back in, etc. This year we didn't stay for the baptisms, because we were a bit unprepared. It was so hot when we left the house that I didn't even consider bringing jackets for the kids and we had one diaper a piece! So we ended up leaving right when the testimonials started.
There's a picture up there of Nathan walking towards that fountain. He was walking slowly and thought it was very cool to be "swimming" so deep. It finally happened that he tripped and fell in. He spluttered around a bit and finally found his footing again. He told me, "Fell in!" I said, "Yes, you went swimming!" He answered, "No swimming!" I answered that was fine. He didn't have to swim if he didn't want to. He hotly replied, "Yes swimming!" With that he threw himself in the water and splashed around some more. I guess I used reverse psychology without even knowing it.
