It's official. Nathan has entered the not-so-fun-twos. I love two year olds and toddlers in general, but over the past week or two or months, who knows, he has become quite a little pain. He's getting a tad bit better at not repeating himself twenty times in a matter of a couple of seconds, but we're still working on it. That has become like nails on a chalk board for me to hear, "Me! Me! Me! Me!"
I try to give the children choices a lot, so he's learned the word "either". However, he says, "No go bed eeder!" Sometimes I don't even give him a choice and he will still say, "No eat nanna eeder!" THEN he'll add a couple of "humphs"! Can you believe it? He's scowl, plant his feet to the floor, and say, for example, "No eat unch eeder, Mommy! Humph! Humph! No eat unch eeder! Humph!"
Sigh. It's such a joy.
A tool we use in the house now is saying, "Gee, Nathan, this is just no fun. You go to your room and you can come out when you're ready to be fun." Well, of course, Nathan will do the above with a, "No go room eeder, Mommy! Humph! Humph! No go room eeder!" That's when he'll nicely be picked up from where he is standing, firmly placed in his room, and the door is shut by Mommy quite firmly. He'll be out in a matter of minutes saying he's ready.
Let's just say that I'll need to oil those hinges soon; they're getting a lot of use. So there, Nathan! Humph!
