Better late than never, I always say... when I'm very late in doing something. I still remember having to prop up the tiny newborn Kaeley on the stuffed bear. Her floppy head was always a challenge to position. Now it's the poor bear I have to worry about positioning. I don't think he's going to make it much longer. Doesn't Brownie just look demoralized? I guess I would feel the same if children kept sitting on my head. Okay, now I'm in the mood to read The Valentine Rabbit.
Enough about the inanimate object. Kaeley is now six years old. She still needs lots of reminders that she is not a third parent, but she is great with her siblings most of the time. She can get them dressed in their pajamas and brush their teeth. It's only after she's taken all that time to take care of them that she's reminded she's supposed to take care of herself first. It's been a learning process... for all of us.
She enjoys crafts, coloring, Polly Pockets, listening to books, and playing in the playground with friends. She isn't exactly an outdoorsy kind of girl, but she does enjoy the occasional field trip to find a ladybug or maybe the beach to find a seashell.
She can sound out simple words, do simple addition, and enjoys History. So far her favorite History subject has been World War II. We went through a period of having to reminder her it wasn't kosher to yell out, "World War II? I love World War II!"
