The Tree of Trees

Brad and I, for some reason, enjoy having our little Christmas trees. Last year, in a fit of desperation (and a lot of frustration) we broke down and bought a fake tree from Joann's. Talk about stress-free when Brad went down stairs, brought up our box, we fluffed the branches, and plugged it in. Done! No more expense. No more time needed. It was great! My kind of tree! Kaeley thinks we do fake trees now because the other trees shed too much. It was just too tricky keeping a little tree alive, because they never came with stands, so we'd go shopping later, and get stuck paying $30.00 and up for a little tree. Ha! We out smarted them! Ah, it feels so good.

So there's our happy little tree. No more hanging ornaments that someone tiny and fun-loving can grab and smash. The kids decorated the entire thing. Kaeley keeps making new ornaments for it out of yarn and paperclips and anything else she can get her hands on. Brad likes the tree, but misses the tradition of picking out the perfect tree from a lot. Speaking from my point of you, mind you I grew up on fake Christmas trees, why not make a tradition of walking downstairs to storage? We can even sing "Oh Christmas Tree" while you dust off the box! Besides, those real trees shed so much!

PS. If you still like real Christmas tress, have you ever read Hans Christian Anderson's "Little Fir Tree"? It makes me want to join PETF... People for the Ethical Treatment of Fir Trees.
