Tuesdays are Brad's night with the guys from work. For me it's yet more hours alone with three children, so they're not nights that I necessarily look forward to. However, last night I decided to go to McDonald's for dinner. I'm hoping to plan a fun activity for every Tuesday, so I really will look forward to the night with the kids. It can be like our date night.
Sigh. Can I interject that I'm ready for the nanny to come this morning? It's 9:15am in the morning and so far we've experienced fighting between Nathan and Alynna, Nathan and Kaeley, throwing toys out of anger, slamming toys out of anger, Nathan screaming in anger behind closed doors, a screaming mother, a spanking, and wet panties. Sigh. I can only shake my head and growl.
Back to last night... the kids were very excited about our dinner out! Their usual routine is running into the restaurant, finding the board displaying the featured toys, and picking out which one they wanted. Nathan was freaking out over this dragon with two heads. It was the dragon with "two headses". Well, of course, that was not the dragon he got. He was so into this problem with the dragons that he didn't eat his dinner for a while. He kept loudly talking about how that was not the dragon he wanted. He wanted the dragon with two "headses". I finally took him back to the counter to ask for a different dragon, but they only had the one type of dragon.
Later, as he was playing in the jungle gym, he noticed a two headed dragon that had fallen out of the play structure and was resting on the window sill. This was in the area that was all gated off. He sat in his little tunnel, got two older girls to help him in his campaign, and just sat there as these girls tried their best to climb over the fence to get this stupid lump of plastic! I finally decided to join them rather then beat them and Nathan and I went to management to very sweetly ask if they could get this toy for us. They obviously didn't jump at the chance to help us, but one of the men got his key, and got this beloved dragon for Nathan. Nathan was basically floating off the floor with happiness. That, at least, made the McDonald's employee smile. We gave him some big "thank yous".
For the next twenty minutes I listened to Nathan, "Mommy! Dragon has two headses! Two headses, Mommy! Mommy, see? Mommy, see? Match!"
Well, back to my non-virtual life. I think I need a Starbucks. I'm also in need of some super loud worship music. Ah, I can imagine drinking coffee while listening to super loud worship music, and sewing happily. Ah...
Okay, back to my real life.
