Monday morning the kids and I packed up and left... to Utah that is. We were off to visit a good family friend. We left around 7:30am, ate breakfast in the car, and drove our six hours until just after lunch time. Whew! Next time I'll leave much earlier in hopes of the children falling back to sleep. Alynna did not appreciate being strapped in for that long. In the last hour of the drive she would try breaking her bonds, but since she's not Samson or the Hulk, she was just stuck and miserable. She tolerated the drive by hiding behind a pillow for most of the drive and sucking on that darn pacifier. Kaeley took it all in stride. She colored and listened to audiobooks (four to be exact!). She was the only one who lost a meal in the car too. Thankfully she's the only one old enough to make it into a designated bag. Poor thing. She later enjoyed a special Sprite. Nathan did pretty good on the way there. On the way back home Nathan and Alynna seemed to have switched roles. Alynna was pretty "good", and Nathan began to scream at everyone and be naughty. He was exhausted once we got home. Thank goodness for the DVD player in our car!
Now I know what I would do differently, so next month when we go again... just kidding. We'll go again, but not next month. :)
