Hiking = Heaven

I grew up being dragged on mile-long hikes with my mom. They were the pinnacle of boredom for me. Now hiking is a reminder to me that heaven will be even more stunning than what I see around me. It's hard to fathom when I am surrounded by forest, my favorite, and rivers through mountains. It was beautiful. It was heavenly to go on a long walk. I think Brad added up our little roads to be about two miles. However, Brad carried Alynna in the Baby Hawk for just about the whole walk and I carried Simon for the whole walk and we were accompanied by two pairs of short legs, so I could have sworn that the walk was more like four or five miles long. :) I really could. But that walk was great. We saw deer, rabbits (which startled the dickens out of poor Kaeley who actually screamed at the site of it), ground squirrels (which are now my least favorite animals and I'll tell you why later), a blue heron, red-winged blackbird, groundhog, a turtle, and ducks. We walked through open grasslands, crossed rock bridges, and strolled through woodlands. I think in another life... if there was to be such a thing... I might have been a pioneer who settled in the deep forest. Of course, that would mean I'd have to sew by hand and possibly die of the flu. I think I could handle everything else about the life. Well, I don't know. They did have to kill and pluck their own chickens. Maybe I was a vegetarian.
