What DIDN'T We Do Yesterday?

Yesterday we went to our little local library to update our Summer Reading Program folders. It's no surprise that Kaeley is already finished with her eight hours of reading. The rest of the children will be done next week. After the quick jaunt to the library we headed off for the Skirball's Noah's Ark exhibit. We've been once before, but it was back when Alynna was a baby. I think the exhibit is genius. It's an interactive hands-on experience for children that walks them through the story of the flood. You can help make the storm by turning wheels and making lightening, or pumping a button and making leaves fly up in the air. You can build the ark. You can help animals get into the ark. The next room is filled with all different kinds of animal puppets and food to feed them. There is a large doll house type of ark with plastic animals. The next room has a climbing feature, like McDonald's. You can sweep "poop" up, feed your family with play food and dishes, etc. Another fun feature is their animals, not shown in any of my pictures, are made out of recycled materials. A flamingo might be made with fishing poles and pink fly swatters. There was an owl made with a lantern and bright red fans. They are beautiful. If you haven't seen them yet I encourage you to google Skirball Center to see their pictures.
So, like I said, we went to the library, drove a long, slow way in traffic up to the Skirball Center, and spent all day there. We were there with our good friends. When we parted at the end of the day, the kids were disappointed they didn't get to enjoy ice cream with their friends like what had been hinted at.
To salve their sorry souls I took them to the Galleria! I know, crazy. Their Kids Club was going on that night. So we had a small snack there while learning about sea creatures from the Roundhouse Aquarium representative. By the middle of the show my kids began to get very antsy. They were done.
We went home, changed into pajamas, and good night!

Looks like a really fun (also tiring, whew!) day for all. The first picture of Simon makes him look like such a happy baby.
