The Classroom Moves Outside

This is what happens when dress-up is taken out five minutes before school starts.

And the pirate strikes again.

It's been a long time since we've done this, but yesterday morning I packed up all of our morning subjects and headed outside. This is our apartment complex playground. Kaeley is working through math. Alynna, as usual, is singing on the swing. Simon walked in and out of our dear neighbor's house, and Nathan bounced from activity to activity. It worked out perfectly for everyone. School was done in an orderly fashion, I was able to be outside, and the younger kids were able to play outside.

Nathan found a small puddle under our picnic table. At first he stomped around and squealed so loud I cringed. Then he got on his knees. He finally just threw his stomach onto the ground and rolled around.

There is a hole in the table for an umbrella. It's funny what joy the small things bring us.  They all took turns peeking out through the hole and yelling things. The kids on the bottom found it hilarious every time.
