Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum

June 17th (but who's counting) we joined our homeschool group for a field trip to Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum. It was our first time at this little historic treasure and, seeing as how this coming school year we'll be diving into California history, I don't think it'll be our last!
Our docent spoke mostly up to the older teens that were in our group. Nathan and Alynna caught any information about muskets or horses. Simon just wanted to eat. They hung in there pretty well, but were very excited when the picnic lunch finally arrived.
About half way through the tour Simon couldn't take it any more. He dropped to the floor and just rolled.
But he rolled quietly, so I left him alone.

Alynna thought this was a jar for snacks. When I told her that the people peed in it at night she whispered back, "Why would they keep peas in there?"

After a tour of the grounds the group met in a classroom setting for a "test" and candle making and games. At this point one of the docents had mercy on the younger children and printed out a coloring page for them, which we all appreciated.
Simon's word search was the most creative use of "words" I have ever seen.
