Bumbling Bathing Beauty

Because my birthday is coming up businesses that I sign up with have been sending me coupons by the dozens! Well, not the dozens, but so far I’ve had gotten these little gifts from Bath & Body Works, Victoria Secret, Rubio’s, The Lazy Dog, Red Robin, Cold Stone, Baskin Robbins, Children’s Place, and maybe two or three more that I can’t remember. Oh, it’s my fun time of the year. I get to treat myself almost everyday of the week. It’s usually the one month of the year where my column of the family budget isn’t in the red.
Yesterday the family went to the mall to use up some of these little treasures. We had lunch at Red Robin, tried to find a bathing suit for Kaeley at Children’s Place with no luck, and then Brad took the children shopping for a bit while I went to all those boring stores children and husbands hate.
I’m really into smelly toiletries right now, so that’s where I spent most of my time alone. At Victoria Secret I bought a warming foot scrub and foot lotion. At Bath & Body Works I got, among other things, a pumice stone.
I couldn’t wait until the children went to bed, so I could jump in the bath and use all my new “toys”. I soaked in a variety of smells, because I didn’t have matching bath bubbles, shower gel, and shampoo. In high school, when I’d take baths, my mom would always tease me about smelling like a fruit salad.
After the soaking came the next step of the beauty process… the lotion. Now I had already used the foot scrub in the bathtub and it was the dickens to squeeze out that gritty gunk. Don’t get me wrong. It was a great product, but it was hard to get out of the bottle. I had intentions to use very little lotion after the bath and that didn’t quite work out. I squeezed the lotion bottle as I had to squeeze the scrub and ended up with a palm full of lotion. I ended up having to put it all over my legs, belly, and feet. I thought I could rub the excess into the skin enough for it to diminish, but I stood up and almost slipped on the tiles with all the grease. Then I almost couldn’t get the door knob open, because my hands were covered with lotion!
I felt great after I got out of the make-shift sauna. I had spent a lot of time scrubbing the bottom of my feet and lotioning them up, but when I sat down it suddenly occurred to me, “Why would I care about having soft feet? I haven’t rubbed feet with someone in a long time.” The kids were already asleep, which was a shame, because I knew Kaeley would have gotten excited for me. Oh well, I at least will know the truth. If I have an encounter with someone this week I can think to myself, “Yeah, well, I have soft feet! So there!”
However, this morning I woke up with an itch on my lower leg. Out of habit I lifted up the opposite foot and scratched the itch with part of my toe. Yep, sandpaper was back. Hey, it serves its purpose.

Just gives you a reason to give yourself another "sauna" treatment!
