I thought Kaeley was born with the love of ruffles and anything pink, but as it turns out her opinion on that has changed. No, thankfully for her sake, she did not tell me, "That is so last season, Mom!" But that's how I felt yesterday.
I think it started in February. We were on a cruise ship with family when Kaeley saw an older woman wearing a black and white polka dot dress. She thought this woman was so beautiful that she had to have a picture taken with her, or her dress I dare say! Now it's soaked into her pores and she is fascinated with dots. Over the weekend I found a whole bunch of pink bathing suits I thought she'd love. She was amused, but wasn't thrilled until she found the perfect match... a blue and white polka dotted swim suit. It's adorable, but it just wasn't what I was expecting at all.
Yesterday her little singing class was having pictures taken by the city, or something, so they were asked to dress up for the special occasion. Kaeley left in a little red and pink dress with flowers on it and a pink T-shirt under that. I even made sure she matched (in the world's standards). When she came home she said, "You must have forgotten that we were suppose to dress up." I said, "I didn't forget. You had that pretty little dress on, and you looked very cute." "Yes," she continued, "Well, there was a little girl with a dress that had polka dots all over. I wish I had a polka dot dress like that."
Oh, the woes of a four-year old, huh? That mom just can't get it right.
