It all started Saturday morning. It’s usually my day to sleep in. However, when Brad went to get the kids up Kaeley started vomiting up clear stomach liquid. He had a little to clean up on the carpet, so I had to get up to feed Nathan and help with Kaeley. She had no other symptom. She bounced right back to her normal self. I was welcome to go back to bed and sleep, but I’m that kind of person. I can hardly wake up, deal with a task, and head back to a peaceful sleep. That was that.
Kaeley didn’t puke again that day, so we figured it was a fluke. We continued on with our plans of the in-laws babysitting while we had a double date with some friends from church. When we left Kaeley she was dressed in her usual odd outfit, happy, and ready for some fun with the grandparents. When we came back she was dressed only in a large shirt from Grandma’s closet and the smaller couch was cushion-less. This time she had thrown up leftover pizza, spaghetti, milk, and chocolate milk.
Nothing happened on Sunday or Monday.
This morning I was awoken by a soft crying. Then came a little yell, “Mommy!” It was almost six o’clock. I left Brad sleeping in the bed while I went to see what bad dream had plagued my four-year old. Turns out she had thrown up again. This one was lovely. It was leftover KFC chicken strips, corn, and applesauce. The room was filled with a light sweet odor of vomit. Just what a sensitive pregnant lady needs, right? I was able to hold my own as Kaeley got out of her somewhat soiled nightgown. I stripped her bed, which is always a challenge seeing as how it’s a bunk bed a couple feet awake from the ceiling.
Nathan woke up within a few minutes of the commotion. So, at six o’clock in the morning I had both children asleep, was already starting to collect laundry, cleaning off the mattress, and trying to ignore chunks of food and the foul smell. Keep in mind that our bedroom, kids room, and bathroom is all within three or so feet from each other. My bedroom door is opened and my husband slept through it all. It’s probably better that he slept, because he has to be ready for work and unpleasant bosses. I’m just amazed at what he can sleep through.
I’ve only been awake with the kids for about two and a half hours, and I’m already ready for nap time, am a grump, and have not a shred of interest in starting my usual daily routine. Sigh. I’m so tired!
I have no idea what’s going on with Kaeley. There’s no fever or change in attitude. She doesn’t even lose every meal. On a guess I cancelled the two things I had planned to do today. I can just imagine leaving the house and having Kaeley puke all over the chiropractor’s office. Who knows? At least this way we’ll be at home and prepared if anything happens and she can rest from whatever is ailing her stomach.

I hope whatever is bothering her stops soon. Has she had anything new to eat recently?
