Today was Kaeley's last day at Vacation Bible School. She attended VBS last year as well, but she reacted differently, of course, because she was a whole year younger. It's been an absolutely exhausting week. VBS started at nine in the morning, which meant we had to be fed, dressed, and smell good by 8:40ish in the morning to walk out of the house and drive to church. My mom was gracious enough to pick Kaeley up from home two of those days and picked her up from church once. That helped a lot. Kaeley and I have both been tired all week long! I'm looking forward to next week so I can have a vacation! I don't know how families do this every day for preschool.
However, all that being said Kaeley did have a great time. She was gone for three hours. They kept her busy with music, crafts, stories, snacks, and playtime. Everyday I asked her what she learned and for the most part she'd remember the story line. However, everyday she remember that she played with Isaac (you know the little black boy she thinks she's going to marry) and her other little friend "Jamiah". His name is Jeremiah. She liked it all but one day when they started being boys and doing the whole "I'm stronger than you" game. She actually took great offense at this, because she insisted that she was strong, because she was going to fight bad guys one day. I tried to explain that boys just do that, so don't take it personally, but she didn't get that.
Our church did a great job transforming the church into a science lab of sorts. That's what the theme was this year. Last year was a ranch theme, so everyone dressed up as cowboys and there were bails of hay all over the place. This year, consistent with the lab theme, there were slinkies hung from the wall, a "mad" scientist skit every morning during their worship time, and so on. It was so cute. They learned things like God gave them the power to be thankful, lend a helpful hand, and... those are the two she remembers, so those are the two I know.
This morning Nathan and I joined her for the worship time. You can tell from the video that she and her little friend Tiffany had a great time with some of these songs! I added a picture to show the many children in the sanctuary and one to show the changing of the church.
