My poor little boy. I think he's fallen on his head so many times he's destroyed some vital brain cells. He just won't learn that Kaeley's bunk bed is not a safe place to play! Well, I forgot to take down her ladder while we're talking about the lack of brain cells. Duh.
Long story short I completely forgot to take down the ladder or turn off the ceiling fan. Yep. Bad, bad mom!
He and I were having a fine time working and playing around the house after nap time. I left the living room, where Nathan was, to walk into my bedroom. Maybe a whole two minutes later, I heard a "thwack" and then a wail of pain. I ran out to the dining room. He likes climbing on the chairs and turning the four straight legs into rocking chairs, so that was seemingly the most obvious place to check. Nope. All four chairs were right where they were supposed to be. Okay, no little boy on the floor of the living room. This all happened very quickly. You know how babies will wail and then they'll take several minutes to catch their breath before they let out an even louder scream? All this searching happened during those few quiet moments. I remembered a time when Nathan had leaned over the couch too far and fallen into the corner. That must be where he was. As I was running toward that area the scream came again.
Aha. He was in the bedroom. Sure enough. I ran into their room right as his little bleeding head emerged from the bunk bed. I could have slapped myself in the face for neglecting the fan and ladder yet again.
It wasn't a serious cut, but it did bleed and I did have to decorate his forehead with the Little Einstein's Rocket. That little boy is going to be the end of me! Well, it was my fault, so maybe Nathan's thinking the same thing about me! It won't happen again, but if it does I'm sticking my head in the line of fire for a punishment!
