We bought our tree yesterday. It's been a tradition of ours to eat out that night, bring the tree home (usually from a lot), then head home to decorate it. We also give the kids an ornament each year that represents their milestones through out the past year. This year Kaeley got a monogrammed K with rhinestones to represent the big girl that she's become. Nathan got a blue dinosaur. Alynna was the easy one with a "Baby's First Christmas".
So, we ate dinner at Chile Verde, a local Mexican joint near the house. We like eating there especially because the kids always insist at eating at their own table. It's like Brad and I are on a date... where we often have to tell someone at the next table to get elbows off the table, wipe their nose, or to sit on their bottoms. Just like the old days, I tell ya.
Now comes the cheesy part. We bought our tree at Rite Aid. I'm ashamed to say that, but they had a good price on them.
We brought it home to decorate it. Wow. That was stressful. Kaeley had no nap that day, so her ability to listen to instructions was out the window. She kind of floated around the living room in her own little happy fog. Then there was Nathan who thought it was odd that we put toys on the tree. He went around the living room taking off our ornaments. After the kids went to bed I felt I needed a stiff drink!
Next year I'm standing on a stool to get me and the tree away from the ankle biters.
