As part of Kaeley's fifth birthday celebration with the family we told Kaeley she could go to Libby Lu's to get a fancy hairdo. However, the kids and I were at Disneyland a week early to visit Aunite Christy and her kids. While we were there I decided to run into Libby Lu's to get an idea on the prices and choices. When I walked in I was confronted with 75% off signs and a half empty store. This coming Saturday the business was closing its doors for good. I told Kaeley what was happening and she just stared at me blankly. I decided to let her have her hair done a week early since she had been looking forward to it. I spent $30.00 on the basic package, which came with the hairdo (minus the curls), a "manicure", little-girl makeup, headband, sash, and several little do-dads to bring home with you. Once ordered up Kaeley was sat in front of the mirror and two older girls swarmed around her twisting hair, painting nails, and applying eye shadow. When she was all done Kaeley glowed. sparkled, flashed, and glided all at the same time! She felt like a princess. That night we were hosting our Wednesday Bible study. Kaeley got all dressed up in a princess gown to welcome our friends into our little abode. She and Nathan played very well with their friends and I didn't hear much out of the children, who were all playing in the bedroom. After group all the children rush out and here comes Kaeley with crimped and messy hair. I asked her why she had taken the liberty of unassembling her brand new hairdo. She said lightly, "Well, Hannah wanted to do my hair."I turned from her, rolling my eyes, which, I'm sure, had dollar signs flashing as pupils, and nearly slapped myself in the forehead for spending $30.00 on a little girl when it didn't even last four hours. Oh well, it couldn't have been foreseen. Kaeley did enjoy her time of pampering and now is the proud owner of several more pink and frilly things to add to her collection.Nathan, in true boy fashion, fell into a dirty, crumb-filled slumber almost immediately before entering the store designed especially for young females. I think it was his way of preserving his dignity.
