Kaeley's Five Years Old!
This year Kaeley caught her first ever stomach bug. Actually, she caught it twice. She's finally potty trained! It happened after I had a slip of the tongue and said that I wouldn't celebrate her fifth birthday if she was still behaving like a baby. As soon as I said it I regretted it, so it was a nice surprise when it worked! We started casual homeschooling. We also enjoy inviting other little girls or the neighborhood kids over to play. Kaeley is quite the nurturer. She is wonderful with her siblings and children that are scared or hurt. She is incredibly independent! Now this can come in handy when we're at the store and I can't find something. She'll walk right up to a worker and ask them if they have what I'm looking for. She's also been known to answer the doctor about what's going on with her siblings even though the questions were directed to me. I love the independence in her. However, it does come with a dark side: rolling of the eyes, talking back, and explaining herself away every time she gets in trouble. We're all blown away when she actually says, "Yes, Mommy/Daddy," without sighing, rolling the eyes, or arguing! I just keep reminding myself that she'll be a very strong leader when she's older... that is after my own grumbling. Her favorite at-home activities include coloring and playing with her little Polly Pocket dolls. Her life just wouldn't be the same without princesses and pink. Her favorite food is cake. She doesn't like zucchini, unless they're hidings in cookies.
