To God be the Glory!

Yesterday was one of those days where I woke up wondering how I was going to make it through without climbing back into bed to hide. The night before Brad disciplined Kaeley by putting her new dolls in time-out until the next morning. Kaeley took him literally, because at four o'clock in the morning I heard Kaeley go to the bathroom, and come into our bedroom. I assumed that there had been an accident and she needed help taking sheets off her bed. I had already been up twice with Alynna, so I thought, "Go on his side! Go on his side!" She woke up Brad by saying, "Daddy, I have to ask you a question..." A few moments of silence passed. "Can I take my new fancy Jasmine to bed with me?" Brad told her, of course, to get her rear end back in bed. Well, she left, but never fully closed her bedroom door, so Nathan was out of bed sometime after that to climb up on my side of the bed. Alynna woke up sometime later for another feeding. Brad woke up again and saw Kaeley just standing by his side of the bed. He was not happy! That morning he put the dolls into another day of time-out.
Brad left that morning at 7:00am. He kissed my good-bye, told me he'd be praying for me, and said, "You're the stronger one in this family." I knew that he was saying, "Better you than me. Good luck!" I appreciated the sentiment, but wasn't all that ready to take on the challenge of children who had been awake since who knows when.
Kaeley's birthday party is on Saturday, so I absolutely had to do some shopping. Plus, I was completely out of diapers for Nathan. We were all fed, bathed, and walking out of the house by 9:30am, which is pretty gosh darn good for this family! I picked Nathan up to take him down the stairs only to find that his diaper was dirty. Back into the house I went. Nathan had to wear one of Alynna's diapers. There was a forecast of rain, but I didn't remember the laundry basket full of puked-on clothes sitting out on the balcony until all the kids were buckled in the car. I debated about whether or not to go back up and rectify the situation, but I decided to take my chances.
My goals for the day were to finish my shopping, arrive home before any melt downs and in time for lunch. I also wanted to be home before the rain started if that was at all possible.
The Dollar Tree was first. Then Target. Now I was going to really push it and try to make it to Sam's Club. Nathan fell asleep in the car, so that wasn't a good sign for future melt downs. It's usually at Sam's Club that the kids start off fine and then crash at check out. Someone is always running around in circles, another one's screaming from hunger, and the other is trying to push the buttons on the credit card machine. I decided put Nathan on my back using the Baby Hawk and not care what people thought of it. So, when we got there Alynna stayed in the car seat, Kaeley held onto the cart's side, and Nathan was nicely confined and tied on my back. I hightailed it through that store, let me tell you!
We were all at home, groceries were in the house (not put away, but they were out of the car), and lunch was being served to the older two before the rain started! It was a wonderful surprise and I thanked God for answering my prayer, because it actually turned out to be a very good day with great behaving kids.
Sigh. Thank You, God. You redeemed my day.
