Today the kids and I went on a little field trip to Travel Town Museum, which is a large park full of old, enormous trains. This park is genius, I must say, because they have two Thomas the Tank Engine tables with the tracks, the buildings, but not the engines themselves. If you don't want your child's heart to be broken you have to go to their gift shop and buy an engine. They're not over-priced, but it's just the principle of the thing. I knew this ahead of time, so Nathan brought his little black engine. However, since my will power with toys is almost nill I ended up buying some trains for Nathan. It'll come out of his saved Christmas money, so if you've ever given Nathan money for birthdays or Christmas... thank you!
We had a good time just wandering around the park. Both kids had a good time, but it was funny that they both enjoyed different aspects. They both could have ridden around in the little train for hours, but Kaeley really liked climbing in the old trains, and Nathan liked the train tables. Nathan actually liked the tables so much that he cried horribly every time we had to leave. As mothers we know our children's complaining-cry, real-cry, and the hurt-cry. Nathan has a leaving-trains-behind-cry.
Alynna liked chewing on my leather wallet, poor teething baby. She also enjoyed crawling around in the children's area.
Me? I enjoyed our picnic lunch and a field trip after a bit of a dry spell in that area for the family. I'm already planning another trip for next month, but I'm leaving the wallet in the car!
