VBS Worship and Kaeley's Dream Comes True

Every morning at VBS three "professional" worship leaders stood on stage and led the children in the hand motions and the singing. I guess midweek they had signed up a few children each day to help them lead. On Wednesday and Thursday Kaeley kept telling me the next day was her turn to help in worship. She swore up and down that her teachers had told her so. Well, at five years old wishful thinking might as well be reality, because I finally asked one of the leaders, Julia, if Kaeley was on her list. She said, no, all the slots had been filled by Tuesday. Well, that was disappointing for Kaeley. They also had an Agape Honorarium, a special reward for only two children per day for doing something really special and out of the ordinary. Kaeley was disappointed yet again, because day after day she didn't get the award. On Friday, the last day of the event, our Senator Brenda stood up to make the usual announcements, including the Agape Honorarium. Kaeley looked back at me (she was sitting up in front with her class) and pointed to herself. She was beaming. She nodded her head and mouthed that she was going to get it. Finally the names were called... it was not Kaeley. A few minutes later Kaeley came to where I was standing and cried her eyes out in my arms. I felt so bad for her. I couldn't let it show too much, because I didn't want her to get jealous or bitter about not getting a reward. I assured her that I knew she was upset, because every month in elementary school I strove to win the Super Star award, but thanks to my "expressive" skills I never won it. Not once! Here my daughter experienced the same heart break. Sigh. I was able to hold her for a few minutes and let her know that she had my Agape Honorarium. Okay, well, she didn't care about my award, so I bribed her saying she could pick out where we had lunch that day.
Anyway, instead of attending our usual 9:00am Sunday church service we attended the 6:00pm worship service. This particular service was focused on VBS, so they sang the songs and showed a picture slide show.
Julia was so sweet, because she invited Kaeley up on the stage with them. Kaeley was so excited! However, when she got up on stage she suddenly went deadpan. It turns out she can't focus on smile and sing or do the hand motions and sing all at the same time. She did all the hand motions, even if she were a step behind everyone else. She never smiled or sang once!
When it was all said and done she came over to us smiling and asked us if we had seen her. She was delighted with herself!
By the way, I made her dress. Me! I did! As you can tell I'm quite delighted with myself as well.
