You would think that a six o'clock alarm this morning would be early enough for damage control to start. That's the only reason I get up this early. If I didn't have kids I'd be happy with seven thirty or eight. But no, my alarm clock goes off at six. This morning I push the snooze button and a second later I hear a crash. I cringe and wonder if Nathan found the ice cream I hid in the back of the freezer. I wonder at what atrocities he's caused so far, but finally think that maybe... just hopefully... it was my imagination. A minute or two later I can hear more movement.
I roll out of bed, stumble into the darkness of the hallway, and find Nathan standing in the bathroom with Kaeley's jewelry box on the floor. It's a puzzle box, so all the pieces fell to the floor, and he thought he had broken it. Not only was he trying to find jewelry that was right for him, but he had brushed his teeth. He had also taken the bathroom stool into his bedroom, because he was trying to find a missing pacifier. A few minutes later he's back in bed, I'm hoping for the best, and I'm getting ready for my day.
When I went into the kitchen to get my breakfast I find a banana peel and a knife on the counter. I then found a cup of smoothie mixture I had frozen. It's sitting on the coffee table with a straw resting on the frozen block.
So that's it. I'm done. I'm going to put Nathan on our apartment complex waiting list. He's moving out since he can take care of himself so well. I'll stock his kitchen with bananas and ice cream and he can come over to do his laundry once a week.
Sigh. Six o'clock wasn't early enough. Monday. Monday. Monday. Monday.
This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!
