Ever since Kaeley's first Halloween (she was Tinkerbell) we have gone to my in-law's home for spaghetti and trick-or-treating. As you can see, Alynna really enjoyed her spaghetti. She even prayed over her dinner.
So off we went to hunt for candy. Kaeley was a very good big sister and watched out for Nathan most of the time. There was once when she got too excited about a goodie from the neighbor and she ran past Nathan, which threw him to the floor.
It was adorable watching them trick-or-treat. Kaeley would guide Nathan to the door step. They would knock on the door. When someone answered Kaeley would say, "Trick or treat!" Nathan would say, "Trick tweet!" Kaeley would get her candy and would run down the steps. Nathan would stare at the candy in his bag, yell at the decorations sitting by some of the doors or the neighbor's costumes, then he would say, "Tank took!", blow a few kisses, and run to show the new candy to his Grannie and Grandma. I think he did that exact sequence at almost every house.
Sometimes he would notice ghoulish decorations or little haunted tents and he would stop to stare. After a few minutes he would start yelling, "No like dat! No like dat eeder! Hated dat!" He would stand there and scream this until we pulled him away to the next door step.
We had put Alynna in the umbrella stroller and it didn't take her long to figure out she was missing something fun. We finally got her out at a couple of houses where she was given a piece of candy she always tried to gnaw her way through the wrapping.
Everyone had a fantastic time. I enjoy the neighborhood feeling to Halloween with children running around in groups and all of us enjoying each other's costumes. I celebrate that we, as Believers, have nothing to fear. If God is for us, who can be against us?
