The day continued on as usual until dinner time. We met Brad's parents at Johnny Rocket's for dinner. He was so excited to see Mama and Grandpa and then Daddy arrived straight from work. He was on cloud-nine.
I think he enjoyed his day. Next year we'll have to bump up the birthdays a bit, because I think he'll be at the age where he wants something a bit more exciting. That's okay with me. I look forward to it.
For his birthday he got many new matchbox cars from Daddy. Mama and Grandpa bought him a race track and two cars. I wish I had taken video of him while I was opening the box, because he went nuts. We were at home the next morning when I put it together and he spent almost an hour playing with it and screaming, "Oh, cool!" And then he'd let out a rich, loud evil cackle! It was a riot!
We are very happy to have a bouncing three-year old boy in our lives. He is a joy, a pleasure, a blessing. He is a surprise. He is a laugh. He is a headache. He is our Nathan, a gift from God.
Now I'm not sure what he'll talk about when conversations start to waver. I've heard for months, "Me have a Star Wars bird day!" It will be odd to not hear that so often. Another phrase I've heard for months is, "Me almost big as you are!" He'll tell strangers on the street that. He'll tell you that one phrase three time an hour! I guess that won't go away for a while. Knowing me I'll notice one day that he doesn't say it anymore and I'll miss it.
