Good Day #2

Yesterday marked another fun day for the Saavedra family. I can't speak for poor Brad, because he was at work and suffering from a very upset back, but as for me and the kids... we had fun. It was Academy Day with our homeschooling group, so we were there by 9:45am. Nathan had already complained about going to "school" and how last time his tummy had hurt, but I couldn't just not go. During the assembly Nathan was his usual bouncy and energetic and loud self. When it all ended and everyone began to separate into their classes I told him it was time for school. He, no joke, began yelling, "Yay! School cool! School cool!... Me HATE school! Me HATE school!" I walked him to his group of teachers and fellow classmates, but he was still following me whenever I left the area, and he continued to complain about having to go to this horrible place. I once knelt down, looked him straight in the eye, and asked if he wanted me to pray that God would give him courage to go to his class. He looked me straight in the eye and answered, "No! Me HATE school! Me tummy hurt already!"
Once I got away from him I dropped off Alynna, who also cried when I left. Once they're playing in their classes neither child continues to cry, but it's very pathetic to see them both cry over being left. They'll appreciate me much more next year when we don't participate in Academy Day.
It was a laid back, but powerful, time with the other homeschooling moms, and an easy cooking class.
Off to the park. We stayed at the park with our friends for about three hours! I didn't see much of Kaeley the whole time, but Nathan I saw often, and Alynna I saw most of the time. I got a few cute pictures of my favorite times at the park. One was much better before a well-intentioned mom stepped into my line of sight. I had pushed Alynna on the swing, or the "wee" as she calls it, and after a while I decided to walk away. Nathan came over to push her, and it was so cute seeing the two little people being together. However, knowing Alynna, she was probably complaining about him touching her when she hadn't asked him to touch her, so a mom who was passing by helped Alynna out the swing. I swear, that girl is part cat. She is so temperamental sometimes.
I had accidentally mentioned possibly going to the library to one of the kids before we left, so long story short we ended up going to the Katy Gessert Library for April's school curriculum. That didn't go too bad.
On the way out of the library the kids discovered a story time that had started a few minutes before, so we went to that.
We were home at five, washed the kids, and then walked downstairs to meet some good girlfriends and their kids for dinner. Brad had agreed to come by after coming home from work and taking the kids home from me. I was so glad when he showed up, because after being gone out of the house for a full day Alynna was crying over everything and Nathan wouldn't stop yelling or having accidents. I knew I was reaping what I had sown. :)
Overall though, a very pleasant day.
