These Are a Few of My Favorite Things...

Sometimes I think if I could just look into Alynna's tear filled eyes and rationally explain that if she could just leave me alone for about five minutes I could probably make her breakfast a lot faster than if she continues to scream while standing on my feet and trying to push herself in between my legs. It makes sense to me, and yet every morning we face the same dramatics as the morning before.
This week Brad, my wonderful, wonderful husband, installed a baby gate between the dining room and the kitchen. And my life changed. :)
This morning was the first morning with the best invention ever in place. Nathan, who doesn't usually pester me in the kitchen, was quite bothered by the addition. It's almost as if he took a personal offense to the intrusion. Brad was the parent making breakfast this morning. Nathan asked him what that thing was. He asked if he could take it off. He told Brad Mommy would be angry and upset. He told Brad that gate was for dogs! When I walked in Nathan went right to tattle-telling on Brad. He told me to put that thing in its box!
He spent most of the morning trying to figure out how to get into the kitchen. When I would purposefully leave the gate ajar he would stand in the gate way with a look of rebellion and defiance on his face. It screamed, "I'll show you!"
It was a riot. It was lovely. :)
