Wednesday was tricky for me to plan for. I had nothing in the morning... that I remember... but I had a midwife appointment at 3:00pm, would meet my sister-in-law for a quick chat after that, and then meet our small group to visit the Christmas light district at 5:30pm. I have been very neglectful with my time and ended up being fifteen minutes late for the midwife appointment. I walked in apologizing only to hear that my midwife thought I was going to be there at 4:00pm. Score! After that appointment didn't last too long, so I flew to my sister-in-law's. I hadn't given her a time period, but again, Score! She had completely forgotten I was coming over. Worked for me. I had promised a picnic dinner at McDonald's, because I kind of assumed I'd have a good hour left before meeting our small group. I stayed a bit too long at my sister-in-law's and didn't leave until 5:00pmish! Yikes! Neglect again!
I flew to McDonald's since I had promised the kids we would go. I left my watch in the car thinking I could somewhat guess how long we were there. After a bathroom trip we had our quick picnic dinner. Like I said, I didn't know how long everything was going to take that evening and I grossly over-underestimated how long the different appointments would take... including McDonald's. I got in the car at 5:45pm! Remember I said I was suppose to meet my small group at 5:30pm. Fail!
The poor planning and holiday traffic allowed me to get near our host's house about thirty minutes late. I was so embarrassed. I was already planning my answer when I got there that late, but decided there was no answer.
I was so late I decided to meet them at the school they usually car pool to. Problem is I didn't know where the school was. I GPSed all kinds of titles as I drove all over the South Bay. I accidentally found the Christmas light district and said we'd just drive around enjoying the Christmas lights until we found our group walking around.
We drove around eating the rest of our dinner and listening to Christmas carols. Nathan and Alynna had a great time out of their car seats. Kaeley, however, was mostly bummed we couldn't find our group. Every single time we saw a group of four people or more Kaeley would point them out. Every single time I'd answer that I already saw them and they weren't our group.
Score again! After driving around for about half an hour it was time to go home. Group had been cancelled due to sickness. I was bummed that I didn't have a cell phone at the time to find that out much earlier, but SCORE! No one had to know terribly late I was running that evening.
