Today was a particularly lovely day. I finally bought a pass to the Kidspace Museum. I've been there a handful of times since Kaeley was two, and I love that place! It can get rather awful if there are a lot of school groups visiting, but today it was almost empty. I got to follow my kids around while they played/learned. Sigh. It was like heaven on Earth. There were no lines, no reports to write, no stress. Just pure childhood fun in nature. "What do you do at the Kidspace Museum?" you might ask. I'd have to answer, "What didn't we do!" The kids climbed towers, colored with frozen watercolor, rode tricycles, played in the creek, made our own creek, played in the sand, build houses out of foam blocks, yelled at siblings when they knocked down our foam houses, learned about ants and turtles, met a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach named Maddie, and much more. I loved it, because the kids pretty much entertained themselves as I followed. They learned effortlessly as they played. We experienced nature that we don't usually get to enjoy: creeks (man-made, but we're not picky), trees that change color and drop their leaves, etc. It was a fantastic day.
We were there for a good three or four hours. I left with one child crying and fighting to get out of my arms, one child who was stomping around with his fists on his hips, and one rolling her eyes and sighing at everything I said. I think they might have been a bit tired. :) We drove home, gave the wet and sandy kids a nice warm bubble bath, ate dinner, read our new Christmas book, and they were all in bed by 7:00pm. Yeah. I think they were a little tired. :0)
