Disneyland with One

Thanks to father-in-laws with hook-ups Brad and I took our one-and-only two year old to Disneyland! We hadn't been in years, because usually our one-and-only is coupled with three other children. Disneyland tickets times six just doesn't happen, so we took advantage of the opportunity and spent the entire day at the park. What fun we had!

Simon was excited about Disneyland, because we were excited about Disneyland. It was precious to see his look of great curiousity as soon as we entered the park. Curiousity turned into "this is my kind of place!" as soon as he got behind the wheel of an Autopia car! He will need some major driving lessons in fourteen years, let me tell ya!

After Autopia Simon's dreams came true and he saw his lovely role model... Darth Vader! He was entranced. I know... we have issues.

Because Brad has had some bad experiences with rides that go around I get the pleasure of taking children on all merry-go-rounds.

We waved hello to Daddy at every turn.

Brad and I had a wonderful time being close enough to touch and we finished sentences... sigh... it was wonderful. We watched Simon's face at every turn. We just soaked it all in.

At this point we kept trying to convince Simon to take a quick nap, but he would not allow himself to miss a moment! So as the time went on his eye lids got heavier and heavier. Nope. Never.

Soaking in all the sights of the Jungle Cruise.

Now Simon looks quite angry and unimpressed, but trust me, he's sleepy.

We walked across the street to California Adventures. Wow, has that place changed since last time we visited! Almost as soon as we walked into the park a parade started. He seemed absolutely amazed. Monsters, Cars, the Incredible family, and more actually live at the park and go dancing from time to time! He was floored!

The parade actually gave Simon a second wind.

The night went on. We ate all kinds of food, rode tons of rides, stared even longer at his little face, and he never slept. Here we are at the Ferris Wheel.

Finally! At 5:30pm he fell asleep.

It took a bit of work waking him up in time of the ride. But he popped up and was good to go! We nearly closed the place down after rides, food, parades, laughs, tears (on my part), and hashing up old and very fond memories of our growing family growing up at Disneyland.
I will never forget the night. I can't say the same for the two-year old, but I will never forget.
