Signs of the Homeless

I keep individual packets of almonds in the glove box of my car. I hand them out the window to the men you often see standing on the exits of freeways. It doesn't happen often, but happened last week sometime. The man was holding a sign that explain he was homeless and asked for help. I passed the packet out the window. When we drove off Kaeley asked why I had done that. I explained that his little sign said he was homeless and needed help.
Yesterday we were driving to the aquarium when Kaeley gasped and pointed out the window. I kept driving, but asked what she had seen. In a very excited voice Kaeley explained, "There was a man back there that needed help!" I told her that I was sorry, but I hadn't seen him and couldn't turn around. Within a few seconds I realized what she was talking about.
There was a man on the side of the road holding a large sign. It had a large arrow pointing to the left. It said "Medium Pizza $5.99".
