Wilson Park

I was no excited about today. I've decided I'd make a much better mother if I had a babysitter come in to handle breakfasts for the kids and get them dressed. Have someone else do the hard work and I'll come in around 10am ready to go on a field trip!
All children were up by 7:15am and they were ready to go! Kaeley was excited about her visit from the tooth fairy, Nathan needed a diaper change, and Alynna was crying. Alynna cried almost consistently for an hour! That's not an exaggeration! I thought I would have to take her to the doctor's so I started logging what she was doing. After an hour, a cup of oatmeal, three Hyland's Teething Tables, and the Baby Hawk, she finally stopped crying.
By 9:30am we were on our way to Wilson Park. I pounded that pavement and listened to my beloved podcasts.
Right in front of the Farmers Market, for whatever reason, a group had set up a whole bunch of drums, drum sticks, chairs, buckets, and other instruments. Anyone was welcome to join them and try out their "toys". Kaeley and Nathan had a great time pounding away on different instruments.
We toured the Farmers Market, sampled the many varities of cut up fruits, and bought some kettle corn before heading out to the playground.
I got out the Frisbee and started throwing that around in the open lot near the playground. Kaeley is in a stage right now where she likes doing things better than her brother, and there are many things she excels at seeing as how she's five and he's two with little legs. I would throw the Frisbee, both children would run after it, and Kaeley would always get to it first. Nathan learned that if he threw himself onto of the Frisbee he would get to it first and claim it as his. Kaeley learned to do it, too, but she only did it once, because she was then smashed by Nathan who piled on top of her. There's a picture of that, and I thought it was hilarious!
On the way home we heard a far and distant train whistle, so we stopped to wait for the train. The picture of Nathan smiling in his stroller shows him watching the train approaching. He was very excited. A nano second after I took that picture the train, which was now almost right in front of us, blew its whistle, and it startled him so greatly that he nearly jumped clean out of the stroller and smashed his banana in his face! To shield his little ears he threw his hands over his ears. One hand had a train in it and the other, as you can see, was holding a banana. Seeing him covering his ears with the banana peel was too cute.
Thankfully the day turned out to be okay. After hearing Alynna cry for an hour was a bit of a hamper on my morning and I was going to call for Grannie-reinforcements if things hadn't improved. Whew. Thank you, God!
