Last time I was at the library I picked up a Planet Earth series. Brad and I have already seen the complete series, and we loved it, but I never thought of letting Kaeley see it. So, last time I was at the library, like I said, I saw it and picked it up for Science.
As it turned out Kaeley loves the series! She talks all the way through it, but loves the odd animals, the music, and the scenery.
There were a couple of scenes I wasn't sure what to do about. Caribou being chased by wolves, wildebeest being dragged into murky waters by huge crocodiles, sharks devouring whole seals in one gulp.
The first tragedy was the caribou calf being chased by wolves. The pursuit started and Kaeley yelled, "Run calf!" When the wolf finally caught the calf I asked Kaeley if she wanted me to fast forward. She casually said no. It wasn't graphic by any means, but it was clear the world was down one caribou baby.
Nathan and Kaeley were watching the shark and seal chase. They were rooting for the seal. When the shark finally won, and I mean won good, Nathan said loudly, "No seal!" Kaeley, once again very casually, "Well, it was good for the shark, Nathan."
She cracks me up.
Last night Brad had a friend over and us four adults and Kaeley were watching the fresh water episode of Planet Earth. The wildebeest attack happened. Brad had warned her it was going to be scary, but she said she didn't want to fast forward. She was rooting for the wildebeest, but when her team lost she declared that they should have run away faster.
During their spot light on piranhas the camera men were eating piranha soup. Kaeley said, "Mmmm. I'd like to try that fish soup."
She's an odd duck. I've decided. I can never predict that girl!
