Natural History Museum Leads to a Very Un-Natural Day

Today we went to the Natural History Museum. We met our friends around ten o'clock. The only assignment I gave the kids was sketch their favorite parts of the museum. The picture of the children sitting on the floor of them sketching dinosaurs. The yellow picture is Nathan's sketch of the T-rex. You can see the sharp teeth. :)
It was hard work. I enjoyed chatting with my friend as the children explored. That is, we chatted while we took turns reading exhibits out loud to the kids, chasing after the two year olds, and pausing as Alynna screamed her head off in the sling. I think she was tired, because the girl hated everything I tried to give to her. We finally just had to wait it out. But, wow, that was a lot of hard work. I fantasized of a time when all three children would be able to walk, read, and not run away screaming, "No stroller! I walk!"
I'm not sure how much learning actually took place, but the kids had fun and I guess it reinforced animal habitats and... I have no idea what else.
We got in the car around 1:30pm and Alynna was asleep before we left the parking lot gates! Nathan was out ten minutes after that and Kaeley was shortly there after.
We got home, threw everyone in their beds, I grabbed a nice slice of chocolate cake... figuring I had already burned the calories off with the amount of stress I had experienced... tried taking a nap around 2:00pm and by 2:15pm I realized that not one of the children had gone back to bed. It was such a loud evening! I didn't even try to do school with Kaeley. I said they could take care of themselves. That they did. They teased one another. They whined. Alynna would stick her tongue out and screech. My parents, yes, parents came to visit later that day, so that helped spend an hour of my time. Before I knew it it was time to boil noodles for our dinner. Brad's game night with a couple of friends is on Tuesdays, so he had a friend over for dinner. After dinner I threw the kids into a bath, washed, brushed, dried... GOOD NIGHT!
P.S. I took several pictures of Alynna, because I enjoyed having her fuss or play or whatever, point the camera at her face, and she'd scrunch up her face in that funny "cheese" smile. I couldn't stop myself.
